PEP NHSSAA Third Place Winner: Claire Lin and Yun Fei Lin

Claire Lin and Yun Fei Lin competed in a 100 hour research project on how technology like GPS, RFID, and sensors are changing sports, and they won 3rd place in the competition.

They looked at how technology can be used to track how fast players run, how hard their bodies are working, and how all that data can stop athletes from getting hurt. Their paper showed that while these trackers are accurate for measuring speed, a lot of coaches still don't fully trust the data yet. In addition, they found out that players won't wear technology like special sensor tights during real games, so tech companies need to make items that athletes actually want to wear while still keeping them safe.

The team concluded that future sports technology design should primarily focus on the user and tech models that combine internal stress with external stress to predict and stop injuries like strain injuries.
